Rumors of War - Fear Not

Welcome to Atlin Family Church and our YouTube channel:

Engaged Faith – Faith and Bible Talk for Real Life.

We’re pastors Dale & Rena Mae McDonald, and today we’re addressing an important and timely subject: “Rumors of War - Fear Not.”

This is not a topic most people in Canada or the United States enjoy discussing. For generations, we have lived largely removed from war and major conflict on our own soil. That long‑standing sense of safety has shaped how we view the world. However, global events remind us that uncertainty is increasing—and we must know how to respond, as believers.

Living in an Uncertain World

Wars, persecution, crime, human trafficking, gang violence, and corruption are realities across the globe. While many of these events feel distant, they still affect the spiritual and emotional atmosphere of our societies.

The constant 24‑hour news cycle can overwhelm us with fear. That’s why we’ve chosen to be intentional about how we receive information—staying informed, but not consumed. As believers, the question is not what is happening in the world, but how do we process it through scripture & faith?

Fear Is Real—But We Have a Choice

Fear is a natural human response. The Bible repeatedly says “fear not” because fear will attempt to enter our hearts. But Scripture also teaches that our response is a choice.

Feelings come, but we do not have to let them control us. We choose how we respond—whether with fear or with faith.

“God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.”

When fear comes, what we say matters. Speaking God’s Word out loud changes the atmosphere and strengthens our faith.

The World Is Changing—But God Is Not

The reality is simple: the world, as we once knew it is changing rapidly. Technology, politics, global conflict, and moral decay all point to increasing instability.

Scripture tells us this would happen.

Jesus warned us that we would hear of wars and rumors of wars—but He also told us not to panic. These events do not signal defeat. They signal that God’s Word is unfolding exactly as promised.

A Battle of Light and Darkness

Across every nation and culture, the root issue is the same: light versus darkness, good versus evil. This is not a political problem or a people‑group problem—it is a spiritual one.

As believers, our hope does not rest in governments or systems. Our hope rests in Jesus Christ.

Anchored in the Word of God

The Bible is our anchor in uncertain times.

Proverbs 3:5–7 reminds us to trust the Lord with all our heart and not rely on our own understanding.
Philippians 4:4–9 teaches us to pray instead of worry and promises God’s peace that surpasses understanding.
Hebrews 13:5–6 assures us that God will never leave or abandon us.

When we filter everything through God’s Word, fear loses its power.

End Times: A Message of Hope

The Bible is clear that we are living in the end times—a season, not a date. No one knows the exact moment of Christ’s return, but Scripture tells us we will recognize the season.

This is not meant to frighten believers. It is meant to prepare and encourage us.

Jesus is coming back for His church.

That is our hope.

Our Authority as Believers

Jesus gave His followers authority:

“I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples…” (Matthew 28:18–20)

We are not called to hide in fear. We are called to stand firm, be the light, and continue the ministry of Christ in our communities.

Every believer has a calling. Every believer has a ministry.

Psalm 23 & Psalm 91 – God’s Promises of Protection

When fear tries to rise, return to the promises of God.

Psalm 23 reminds us that even when we walk through the darkest valley, we do not walk alone.

Psalm 91 declares God as our refuge, our protector, and our shelter—promising safety, peace, and divine covering even in the midst of chaos.

These Scriptures are not symbolic—they are living promises.

Engaging Your Faith Today

Now is the time to engage your faith like never before.

  • Get into God’s Word daily
  • Turn down the noise of the news cycle on TV which can cause fear to come
  • Pray with authority
  • Walk in confidence
  • Be the light in your community

We believe God placed you exactly where you are, at this time in history, for a purpose.

Final Encouragement

This is not a time for discouragement.
This is not a time for fear.

This is a time for hope, courage, and faith.

Jesus is with us—now and always.
