Faith Is

What is true faith?

I am so thankful for the Word of God - His mercy, His Grace, His blood & the promised salvation to anyone who believes. TO BELIEVE… is the first step towards the SUPER - NATURAL Christian life!

As a Christian, there should be some fruit or something in our lives that is different from those who do not believe (if we are doing it right).

A Christian’s faith needs to be activated by renewing your mind! What I mean by that is, if you are a new believer you will need to replace the Un-truth you have learned, experienced, or believed to this point in your life. What we believe is a sum total of the above & may have been influenced by friends and family, a church or worldly (anti God) platforms online.

It all starts with making a quality decision to believe God’s Word is the written “operator’s manual” for Christian living. A guide to learn who we are In Christ, what we have In Christ, and what we can do In Christ!

When you make a choice to replace your current mindset (belief system) with The Truth (the bible) you will begin to experience the life God has planned for you.

His Word, the bible is yes and amen! For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory.
2 Corinthians 1:20 NLT

John 8:31-32 NLT Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. 32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

It is the truth we know that sets us free! To be free In Christ, a Christian needs to embark on their own personal road of discovery. At Atlin Family Church we are here to help you get started & share The Truth we have discovered along our road of bible reading & teaching, our journey!

We all start out as a new believer at some point. If you have been a Christian for a while you may know this already, but sometimes we get off course & need help to adjust course!

As you read this short teaching it is my hope you will take a step-in faith!

Faith is not just a mindset, but it does start with a decision to believe that that bible which is God's Word is The Truth! As a new Christian you may not understand all that is written in the bible today, but as you renew your mind by meditating on the scriptures it will come alive to you! God speaks through His written Word (the bible) and by revelation of His Word directly to our spirit.

Sometimes to fully understand or define something it helps to learn “what it is NOT!”

Faith is NOT…
“I go to church therefore I have faith”. Faith is more than attending a church or a denominational label. Some religious organizations will kill your faith due to false doctrine!
“I believe there is a God therefore I have faith.”
You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. James 2:19 NLT
“I have my own beliefs about spiritual or religious things therefore I have faith!”
The world offers all kinds of ideas or systems that elevate humanism, but it does not change The Truth or reality of God’s plan for mankind.

Likewise, the above examples or statements do not make you a true Christian. It is only a label until it is real in your heart & your mouth! According to The Word of God we must be born again to be a Christian & have His Word apply to us, our lives and our eternal destiny.

A True Christian is born again and believes in their heart and confesses with our voice!

If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. Romans 10:9-10 NLT

Faith Is Our Connection to the Promises of God!

FAITH IS…

A FORCE or A POWER that when developed, and most importantly when acted upon, will work on behalf of a true Christian according to God’s Word and His promises! You can read God’s word everyday and all day long, but until we take Him at His WORD it is not going to create change in our lives or our world.

The world we live in is not always good to us or people we know to be “good” people. We need to learn who we are In Christ, what we have In Christ, and what we can do In Christ! This will get us on the road to healing in our bodies, freedom, protection, deliverance from trouble, prosperity! “Oh no, he said prosperity!” Yes, God wants Christians to prosper so we can have our needs met and to help others who need help!

A psalm of David. Ps 23
1 The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need.
2 He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams.
3 He renews my strength. He guides me along the right paths, bringing honor to his name.
4 Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.
5 You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My
cup overflows with blessings.
6 Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of
the LORD forever. NLT

We all face a real enemy who wants to take us out!

The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
John 10:10

The thief, Satan (the devil) is our enemy, and he will do all he can to mess with us – if we let him or not recognize his attacks.

Some of the promises that we have when we are - In Christ…

1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.
3 For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease.
4 He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor
and protection.
5 Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day.
6 Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday.
7 Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch
you.
8 Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished.
9 If you make the LORD your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter,
10 no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home.
11 For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go.
12 They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.
13 You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet!
14 The LORD says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name.
15 When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them.
16 I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.” Psalms 91 NLT

You may say, “I get what you are saying, but I don’t know where to start or how to “get faith?”
I am so glad you asked!

The bible tells us where faith comes from. Remember the bible is a Christian’s operators manual - so to speak.

So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ. Romans 10:17 NLT

We must position ourselves or live a life In Christ where you can hear and be taught God’s Word so you can in faith, recognize and act (in faith) to resist the devils in your life!

Heb. 11:1, 3, 6 NLT 1 Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. 2 Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation.
3 By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did
not come from anything that can be seen.
4 It was by faith that Abel brought a more acceptable offering to God than Cain did. Abel’s offering gave evidence that he was a righteous man, and God showed his approval of his gifts. Although Abel is long dead, he still speaks to us by his example of faith.
5 It was by faith that Enoch was taken up to heaven without dying—“he disappeared, because God took him.” For before he was taken up, he was known as a person who pleased God. 6 And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

Faith and knowing God’s Word saved me from multiple attempts on my life…

“Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.” I am so thankful for the teaching and Truth we have learned over the years in ministry. Those rewards have manifested exactly when we needed them!

In my Christian journey I have developed my faith over the years. Did I always get it right? No, but God is merciful and was there for me when I needed supernatural help!

I have experienced two vehicle collisions, falling out of a canoe into ice gold water in a Yukon Lake, delivered and healed from clinical depression where I was planning suicide. All these events or situations could have ended in death. It was supernatural intervention by God on each of these events that saved my life. Having faith in the name of Jesus saved my life multiple times and probably more than I am aware of. I only know of the times I was involved. There may have been many times where I was delayed on route or unaware of a near miss event.

I do pray you are grasping what I believe with all my heart in this teaching. God is real and He loves you as much as He loves Jesus. When we develop our faith utilizing the tools God has for us we can begin to live a victorious life!

I pray with the words of Paul…
Ephesians 3:14-21 NLT When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, 15 the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. 16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.
